Automatic daily posting bookmarks to Blogger blogs
After waiting more than a year for Del.icio.us to come out with some more support information on how to use its daily blog posting for Blogger blogs, I had given up on the idea. While this feature works on Wordpress and other blogs, many using Blogger have been discussing on how to get this work on their blogs. I have not been able to find a solution yet.
What is daily blog posting exactly? This simply refers to the service that will post your Del.icio.us bookmarks to your blog, just like any other posts, automatically on a daily basis. Why would any blogger want this? Many reasons. First, we want to share our interesting finds with our readers. Secondly, it makes up for those times when we are having one of those blogger blocks and are unable to post anything new. Sure many bookmarking services allow us to have our bookmarks on the sidebar in the form of a linkroll. But that was not enough. How many readers actually scroll through the sidebar anyways.
So you can imagine my excitement when I could get this done with Diigo, a relatively newer social bookmarking site to Del.icio.us. Last year when I checked their daily blog post service, it didn’t work for Blogger blogs. Seems like they have solved it now. You can go to it Tools/ Daily Blog Post page, add your Blogger blog, and then add a job thingy. Then you are done. Diigo also offers some cool tools like allowing you to highlight texts and add sticky notes on websites, and create groups. You cannot do these with Del.icio.us. One feature I would have loved on Diigo though. It is that I should be able to have the daily blog post feature on only bookmarks that I select, like bookmarks of a certain tag, etc. Right now, they seem to post every bookmark on my blog without any filter. If I could do that, I would have migrated totally from Del.icio.us, since Diigo offers the import bookmarks facility also. However, like anybody, I bookmark all sorts of sites in a day and not all these might be relevant for my blog readers. So now what I do is have a Diigo toolbar and a Del.icio.us button on my browser. I continue to use Del.icio.us as my main bookmarking service and use Diigo to bookmark only those sites that I want to be posted on my blog. The sites I bookmark with Diigo also come out on my Del.icio.us. How? The Diigo toolbar allows you to bookmark not only on Diigo but also on other bookmarking sites at the same time (see options on the toolbar).

I have also been waiting quite some time for the del.icio.us daily posting to synchronise with Blogger. I’ve had a google alert searching for news of such an event… and it told me of your post.
So its not good news from del.icio.us or Blogger but Diigo looks like a really neat web-app itself.
Even though Diigo doesn’t offer to filter the daily post by tags, it does appear to offer to daily post only those we annotate - so as long as it links to the annotated page directly (I haven’t tried it yet) I think that may be better. After all, one of the complaints I’ve read against daily posts is the disservice to subscribers (not that I have any) who might just receive lists of links.
I’m guessing they wouldn’t daily posts private bookmarks even if they are annotated.
Anyhow, thanks again, you’ve given me hope.

Hello, I noticed your post on Diigo linkrolls for your blog. Go to the page where you generate the code for your linkroll. Begin generating a new linkroll, and look for the box that reads “Only These Tags”, then fill in the tags you want to include in your linkroll. Then, use that code.

Hi moonflowerdragon, thanks for the comments. ya diigo came quite as a surprise. I hope it gives us the tags options. Come to think about it, can we put blogger post labels too? what about peekaboo posts adjustments? Also the headlines are in bold. I just want them to be normal. May be I’m asking for too much.
Hi the wandering author, maybe I should have mentioned it more clearly. I meant the tags customisation for the Daily Blog Post.
